SOFTWARE
UPGRADES |
|
|
The
Nord Modular Editor software (Mac / Win from v.3) is offered in
bundle with the instrument and is required in order to select the
desired modules and to create original patch-chords in a realistic
3D environment.
Clavia is continously developing new Editor and system features
for the Modular series, as well as new patches in order to strongly
support the users that invested money in this synthesizers. The
available software can be downloaded for free directly from Clavia,
at www.clavia.se.
Introducing the Modular Editor v.3, Clavia extended the editor support
to MacOS platform (previous versions were only Windows-based), requiring
MacOS 8.6 or late and OMS for MIDI support.

UPGRADE
PROCEDURE |
|
|
There
are two type of software that normally allows to upgrade the Modular:
- The Modular internal operating system;
- The Modular Editor (for PC-Win or MacOS platforms).
So, to upgrade the system to the following version it requires two
main operations:
1.
To upgrade the Nord Modular operating system;
2. To install the new Editor on the computer.
The first step is normally required only for big improvements, passing
for example from version 1 to version 2 or 3. Intermediary steps
- for example from version 2.0 to version 2.1 - normally are related
only to the Editor. Anyway the Modular internal system upgrade can
be easily accomplished via computer, thanks to an Wizard Installer
software that - via MIDI - is able to delete and rewrite the Modular
Flash RAM with the new data.
Before to install the upgrades it is always raccommended to save
to the computer hard disk all the sounds located inside the Modular.
This is for two main reasons:
1. The Modular internal system upgrade will erase any sound located
inside the Flash RAM;
2. The new Editor version cannot exchange data with a Modular based
on the previous internal system version.
Once finished the upgrade operation, the Modular Editor will be
able to read the sounds of the previous Editor version from the
computer hard disk, converting the existing sound libraries to the
new format. In this way the updated Modular will be able to load
again the old sound library (converted) without problems.
